When the player first finds the bamboo bridge they will see it is broken. During the story mode the bridge can not be repaired.
Only in survival mode can the bridge be repaired. The bamboo bridge requires 12 bamboo logs and 6 rope to complete construction. Bamboo can be found a short walk to north west near the east native camp. Alternatively bamboo can be located south west of the bridge, however this route is slightly longer.
Once the bridge has been completed the player can cross over the bridge to discover and explore new areas of the map.

During the Water Update V.0.3.0 the bamboo bridge was enabled so players could repair the bridge to access the new areas of the map that were included in the update.
The bamboo bridge was adjusted during the full release V.1.0 for story mode. Players can no longer repair the bridge and will need to follow clues from the story to find an alternative route. No changes were made for survival mode, the bridge can still be repaired.
