Seasons

There are two seasons in Green Hell, wet and dry. When the player first starts out in game it will rain on and off for approximately the first 20 days. After this time the seasons will then randomly rotate over a set number of days through the year. Each season roughly last 20 to 30 days.

Wet Season

The wet season or rainy season can cause rivers to swell. Areas where river beds that are normally dry turn into rivers and streams. The dark grey skies and constant downpour can sometimes weigh heavy on the player. However this is the best time to take advantage of collecting large quantities of water. Some structures can be filled quite fast when it is raining.

  • Mud Shower- can only be filled with rain water
  • Mud Water Filter- can be filled with rain water and is great for storing large amounts of water.

Dry Season

The dry season can be quite harsh for players who are not prepared, especially if they are based in a location where there is no natural water source such as rivers and ponds. The player will need to find alternate ways of sourcing water. One way would be to find coconuts and drink it's water. However this is quite a time consuming task and would require a large amount of coconuts to last the season.

The best method of sourcing water is the water collectors. These collect moisture from the air to produce clean water.

Day

Sunrise starts at 05:00hrs providing just enough day-light allowing the player to play effectively. At 07:00hrs the world's brightness has greatly increased and the player can resume daily tasks.

Night

The sunset slowly starts at around 16:00hrs. By 19:00hrs the world's brightness is significantly decreased. The player will need to use a light source such as torches or fires to see effectively. During the night stars will appear and bats can sometimes be seen flying high in the sky. When the moon is high enough in the sky it will brighten the night-time world, providing just enough light for the player to see.

If the player stays awake long enough they can sometimes hear a strange native melody. The reasons or meaning of this melody is unknown.

In Game Time

One in-game hour is just over 2 minutes real time. Meaning one in-game day lasts roughly 40-50 minutes real time.
