Monstera deliciosa is a large plant that was added in update V.0.1 to Green Hell.

Basic Info

Monstera deliciosa, also known as the "Swiss cheese plant" or just "cheese plant", is a species of flowering plant in the family Araceae^[1] with a cream-white spadix^[2]. In game, it is primarily found in areas with intense vegetation.

The plant grows a single flower that can be collected by the player and, unless renamed, is called unknown flower. The flower can be eaten and will provide a high source of carbs and protein; however, it will also cause food poisoning. If the flower is not collected and left to ripen, it will produce a Monstera deliciosa Fruit, a valuable food item.

Plant Cultivation

The player can grow Monsteria deliciosa by collecting its flower. Once dried, the flower can be planted in the large planting box. When it has fully matured, it will provide a constant source of its fruit.

Trivia

• In-game, the fruit of Monstera deliciosa never ripens and is consumed in its green state; however, in reality, the unripe green fruit is known to be potentially irritating when consumed due to the potassium oxalate contained on the scales covering it.^[3]
• The term "Swiss cheese plant" is also used for the related species from the same genus, Monstera adansonii^[4].
